At the cross, Jesus declared that the work He came to accomplish had been completed.
The Greek word recorded in John 19:30 is tetelestai—something brought to completion, fully accomplished. Jesus completed the work the Father had given Him to do. The perfect life had been lived. The sacrifice had been offered. The price for sin had been paid.
Our salvation rests upon the completed work of Jesus Christ.
Too many Christians believe in Jesus and yet continue to live under the weight of guilt, fear, regret, and the feeling that they must somehow earn God’s love and approval. The Gospel offers something better. Because of Christ, we can learn what it means to live transformed by grace.
Grace is more than a theological word. It changes how we understand God, ourselves, our past, and our future.
